Ron Bennett Grooms Guide

March 28th, 2011

The best way to cure last minute nerves is to know that you are perfectly dressed. It also stops the bride having second thoughts when she first sees you at the ceremony!
At Ron Bennett we have three simple tips to get you on track and keep you there right through to the big day:

1. Dress appropriately! Sounds obvious, but too many men ignore this – and look ridiculous at their wedding. We make sure you stand out for the right reasons. It is crucial to match the style of attire to the tone and setting of the wedding. A tuxedo is ideal for a formal occasion, but for more casual ceremonies a smart Ron Bennett suit would be ideal, especially when fitted with just the right accessories (see below).

2. Rental suits? No! They never look new and they never fit well enough. Instead, seize this as a great excuse to invest in a suit. There’s little difference in cost and you can wear it again and again at other events.

3. Remember to ask for help. Ron Bennett’s expert consultants can guide you every step of the way – and the sooner you start, the better! We can work out a sensible schedule for you to have any alterations and tailoring, to change your mind about any accessories without any last-minute panic. Yes, you really can enjoy the preparation just as much as your bride!

Comfort – the key to looking good AND feeling good

so, you’ve decided on the style and now we help you to feel as good as you look. We’ve all seen those – grooms tripping over tight shoes, itching and perspiring, and fiddling with nipping collars – but it is NOT compulsory. Ron Bennett consultants know the three secrets to comfort – the right fit, the right materials and the right accessories.

  • The right FIT

Ron Bennett consultants take every possible measurement to make sure that each item of clothing fits your unique build while giving you maximum freedom to move. Every detail, down to where the shirt cuffs sit on your wrists, will be expertly measured and adjusted.

  • The right MATERIALS

Another ingredient of comfort is the choice of fabric. At Ron Bennett we factor in the climate, the venue and how long you will be wearing your outfit. We don’t want you shivering with cold in July – your bride may think you’re losing your nerve! And in the warmer months, we’ll find light, airy fabrics and cool, comfortable shoes.

  • The right ACCESSORIES

This is where you can really make a difference – the perfect finish to the perfect outfit. And Ron Bennett has exactly the right expertise to advise you on a balanced and distinguished ensemble.

•                Neckwear – you’ve got a few different choices here. Being slightly conservative really works, and still brings a quality suit to life. Try a silver silk bow-tie with a black tux, or a subtle stripe or weave. White ties are ultra-formal and black ties formal, while coloured ties can suit a range of occasions. For a less formal look, try a long necktie.

•          Cuff links – the tiny flourish that makes a BIG statement – a real opportunity to express yourself. You can go with a classic silver square, or something much more colourful.  Football fan? Wear cufflinks with your favourite player’s number. Devoted to cars? Try ones featuring your favourite ride. You can even have cufflinks custom designed for the occasion.

•          Shoes – above all, don’t forget to get some great shoes! If you’re wearing a tuxedo, you’ll need a simple yet elegant patent leather shoe. If you already own the ideal shoes don’t be scared to wear them, but DO make the effort to shine them to a rich polish, or get a professional shine to have them looking their best.
At Ron Bennett our one objective is to help you look and feel your best, making the right impression on your bride and guests – and having the wedding day (and the wedding photos) to remember for always.
